... it's not half bad, as far as microwave food is concerned. but i can only vouch for the meatless pizzas, since that's all I've had the courage to try... and seeing as how it's now 2008, and I'm being the good girl that i am, i have set my new years resolution to eat healthy and exercise more... so i will be eating A LOT of lean cuisines (and smart ones, and healthy choice, and any other diet food that can nourish my body without forcing me to turn on the stove or wash a dish). i joined a weight loss group at work and set my goal for 17lbs (but really, i want to lose 27lbs by this summer, a plight in which I'm currently losing since i had already gained a pound by our second weigh-in). so stay tuned, folks... what we have here is a model in the making. please note the before (ignoring the underarm stubble of course):

USA Today article on Black Spending Habits:

These are tough economic times, especially for African-Americans, for whom the unemployment rate is more than 10%. Alarmingly, rather than belt-tightening, the response has been to spend more. In many poor neighborhoods, one is likely to notice satellite dishes and expensive new cars.

According to Target Market, a company that tracks black consumer spending, blacks spends a significant amount of their income on depreciable products.

In 2002, the year the economy nose-dived; we spent $22.9 billion($22,900,000,000.00) on clothes, $3.2 billion ($3,000,000,000.00) on electronics and $11.6 billion ($11,000,000,000.00) on furniture to put into homes that, in many cases, were rented.

Among our favorite purchases are cars and liquor. Blacks make up only 12% of the US population, yet account for 30% of the country's Scotch consumption. Detroit , which is 80% black, is the world's No.1 market for Cognac (Pass The Co---------).

So impressed was Lincoln with the $46.7 billion ($46,000,000,000) that blacks spent on cars that the automaker commissioned Sean "P.Diddy" Combs, the entertainment and fashion mogul, to design a limited-edition Navigator replete with six plasma screens, three DVD players and a Sony Play Station 2.

The only area where blacks seem to be cutting back on spending is books; total purchases have gone from a high of $356 million in 2000 to $303 million in 2002. This shortsighted behavior, motivated by a desire for instant gratification and social acceptance, comes at the expense of our future.

The National Urban League's "State of Black America 2004" report found that fewer than 50% of black families owned their homes compared with more than 70% of whites.

According to published reports, the Ariel Mutual Funds/Charles Schwab 2003 Black Investor Survey found that when comparing households where blacks and whites had roughly the same household inco mes, whites saved nearly 20% more each month for retirement, and 30% of African-Americans earning $100,000 a year had less than $5,000 in retirement savings. While 79% of whites invest in the stock market, only 61% of African-Americans do.

Certainly, higher rates of unemployment, income disparity and credit discrimination are financial impediments to the economic vitality of blacks, but so are our consumer tastes.

By finding the courage to change our spending habits, we might be surprised at how far the $631 billion ($631,000,000,000.00) we now earn take us.

i can't believe it's only wednesday... this week is going by so slow... the only thing getting me through the day is knowing that i have an egg salad samich waiting for me in the fridge after work (mmmmm...)...

So as I was at work “surfing the net” for carpets and tiles for my new townhouse (yes, I bought a townhouse!) I decided that I should come back to my blogger home... I’d like to take this time out to thank all of my TRUE fans who stuck with me during that dry-spell (believe it or not I actually had NINE visitors last week... crazy huh?!?)... YYEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!! so have you ever experienced a moment where you just couldn't stop smiling even when you tried?!? i mean, like it really becomes a physical affliction and the smile almost starts to hurt your face (but not quite)... well sons and daughters, today i had that moment ALL DAY... why?!? because as of today, friday april 28th, 2006, I AM NO LONGER AN INTERN!!! woo woo woo woo (insert arsenio arms here)... YES!!! i am OFFICIALLY a full time employee in advertising!!! i thought this moment would never come... i'd like to thank all of the people who made this possible... my mom for never giving up hope and helping me to pay my rent for the past few months (because hey, no one can really live off of an intern's paycheck)... teresita for harassing me on e-mail all day at work... talib for constantly sending me inappropriate IMs at work... jenee for having a rhyming name... sarah for being the best facebook boyfriend a girl could have... anika, karmel, sarah, and kelly for toughing it out with me inside of our intern closet... trinity for keeping up w/ our wednesday date nights... mikala for keeping up w/ our saturday afternoon dates... momo for giving me reading materials on those "busy days" (check out her blog)... renard the great for keeping me occupied on facebook on those "really busy" days... and my brother, just for being him!!! but ok, i just witnessed something pretty disturbing in the 20th floor ladies bathroom... now, whenever i go to the bathroom i usually choose the very first stall b/c i read somewhere that it usually has the least germs (you know, because people usually walk right past it)... so when i go to open the door i see two (2) HUGE turds (LOL i just said turd... thats such a strange word)!!! ok so besides the fact that this was extremely disgusting (but based on my last blog i think everyone knows that i'm used to this behaviour from the ladies on the 20th floor) i was a bit disturbed by the fact that there was no toilet paper in the bowl... so i was just wondering, did this lady really wipe her booty?!? or did she just boo boo then leave w/o even bothering to wipe or flush?!? my hopes is that she flushed and the only thing that went down was the paper, but she was too busy to notice b/c she had to rush out to wash her hands... ughk!!! i think i'm just gonna stop drinking water at work so i can just avoid the bathroom from now on...

leaving skidmarks on the toilet bowl at work is unacceptable...

Well I don’t really have anything to say about my underwear… but, you really can’t overlove them… especially not boy shorts…

So my mom came into town on Thursday and left today (and not to sound sappy, but I kinda miss her already; time flies when you’re having fun)… so, since I haven’t written in a few days, I thought I’d talk about the highlights (and lowlights) of the weekend:

My mom cleaned my apartment!!! This makes it the first time it has been cleaned since I moved in… 6 months ago… she then proceeded to lecture me on cleanliness for the rest of the weekend… I think at some point she even told me that I’ll never get a boyfriend with a dirty apartment… so far that theory has been correct…
I told my mom she dressed like a 60 year old man… I didn’t mean it in a disrespectful way… I was just trying to help… I think she understood… sorry mom…
We went to the cheesecake factory last night (my FAVORITE place to eat) and our waiter was one SEXY mofo… I don’t remember his name, but that man looked GOOD… damn…
My apt complex has managed to have blackouts everyday for the past 2 weeks… I called my landlord today and he pretended like he didn’t know what I was talking about… but I know I can’t possibly be the first person to complain about this… at first I thought Georgia power was teaching me a lesson for not paying the bill on time… but I mean, at least I paid it…
My mom bought me kitchen appliances!!! This means, I no longer have to boil water in the microwave, cook greens in my electric skillet, drink water from martini glasses, or toast bread in the oven… good job mom…

reason numner 4,968,044 why i NEED a new apartment:

so i'm sure that those of you who are even remotely close to me in a any way already know of the incident which involved my apartment, a dirty little possum, and a frantic 911 call in the middle of the night... i don't want to get into it b/c thats still a touchy subject with me... but anyways, i took a half day of work today b/c i had a very looong interview at another ad agency... i get home early, ready to enjoy the rest of the beautiful day... i pull into my garage, and open the door to of my car, and what do i see... SNAKES!!! five little baby snakes... well, they were like a foot long, but thats besides the point... my apartment complex has snakes!!! the maintanence guy came and killed 3 of them, but the other 2 climed back up into the wall of my garage, which means they're still there, alive, and waiting to attack... my mom suggested that they are newborn snakes, which means theres a mad mama somewhere looking for her 3 dead children... oh lord, i just hope they find a new home... i can't deal with anymore wild animals (reptiles, whatever)... 5 months until the lease is up...
